Experiential Game Reviews

This is a series of episodes where I review classic games (and some interesting modern ones) and make awesome, hilarious jokes. These reviews focus on giving the viewer an idea of exactly what the game is like as opposed to merely giving an opinion without explanation. There is an emphasis on entertainment and the music tracks that play under some of the footage and narration are all original recordings composed just for this project.

Episode 0

This one really is stupid! It's kind of funny too since only weeks after doing this the line-up of games which I intend to review is basically completely different. This is where red hat guy came into existence. I had repeatedly failed at the line "Where I will conduct in-depth reviews..." and I recorded that line with the hat on to make fun of myself. I thought it was funny, and so did everybody else I talked to, so red hat guy became an actual person. There are actually three personae that participate in these reviews (so far): Syon Grey, red hat guy and The Narrator.

 

Episode 1

The first episode, this thing was a extremely annoying to produce. I had to record the entire video twice and narrate over certain parts. I posted a rough version of this which I decided minutes later was going to be a beta version. That way it was okay that it totally fucking sucked. Which it did. But this one is better. I used a much better video editing program and had a pop filter the second time around. It still was such a pain to produce... Thankfully the experience will aid in the production of future episodes.

Episode 2

This episode went MUCH more smoothly and quickly thanks to a couple of reasons. I captured a ton of footage for this game in the process of making an item farming / perfect release video guide for this game. To record the footage I taped a digital camera to the center of a mic stand with duct tape. The digital camera that I used takes 4 hours to charge its battery to full which allows it to record for an entire 40 minute session. I had to do this four times to get the footage required for that video. I used a bit of it in this review. red hat guy has two lines in this -- his first one is really stupid but his second one is hilarious.
